The Year is Almost Over, Now What?

Can you actually believe that the year is almost over? Like, really! Where has the year gone too? Time stops for no one and we can’t afford to miss out on opportunities and blessings from God.  This year has been a trying time for me, from annoying people to negative thoughts of quitting my dreams because of the lack of support.  But for some reason, I’m still doing what I always love to do and that is to write.  As an author of seven books and owning her own magazine, it can be challenging at times, such as developing new graphics for my brand and for the magazine, but as I continue to move forward, I still think about all the accomplishments I’ve achieved this year so far! Three issues published and my new book being published this past July. 

But a lot of people may continue to ask the question, “Now What?” It’s officially fall (in Virginia finally) and the new season is kicking in.  You have launched your new clothing line or website or even published another book, so you are still wondering what is next for the remainder of the year.  You want to really know what’s next. Plan for the next year! Even though we still have a few more months left in the year, don’t let that stop you from your dreams, goals and visions for next year!  As for me, I’m already planning the next three issues of my magazine as far as who I want to be on the front cover, to features and creating new advertisement flyers to get business owners to purchase an ad. I have goals for next year and I’ve already started planning and creating them.  You can’t wait until December 31st to decide what to do for the New Year; no hunty! You’ve got to start NOW!!! As long as God is blessing you with another day to live, another day to achieve your goals, because He sees potential in you and a purpose!  Just because you achieved your goals for this year, don’t get too comfy and think that’s all you have to do for your business or brand! Start thinking ahead and plan on what new projects you will be working on for the next year! As business owners and entrepreneurs, we have to stay ahead of the game! Especially women entrepreneurs! We’ve got to strut in our red bottoms and let them know who the real boss is!  Be different! Be unique! Step out of the box and do something different with your business or brand that no one has done yet! If you are a visual person, then research new video apps you can use to increase your sales and visuals for your products or services. For example, I love graphic design and I’m very grateful that I have invested money in apps such as Ripl, which is very good for visual storytelling.  If you have at least two good apps for that, then you are good to go. 

Here are some tips you can use for planning for the New Year:

  1. Spend at least 2 hours a day writing down your new goals, whether it’s in a notebook or on the computer. This will give you an idea of what you are trying to achieve.
  2. Set money aside for collaborations or interviews. If you enjoy racking up those interviews or ad spaces in publications like I do, then setting back a certain amount per month will be very helpful so that you won’t have to struggle getting the money you need. I have been investing all year, doing podcast interviews, purchasing an ad and doing features for brands and publications for my books and my writing and editing services. 
  3. If you have a new goal that you are trying to achieve for the New Year, write down what you will need to do in order to achieve that goal and the time limit. For example, if your goal is to publish a new book, then you will need to know what your goal is as far as a release date and how long it will take you to write and what the book will be about.

So now you can finally answer your own question,“Now What?” Because now you have the girl power and the will power to kick your goals in the butt for the new upcoming year. It’s going to be a great year indeed, because ladies, you will be well prepared in your new ventures of your business or brand! You got this girl!
