Rochelle Holmes, minister and musician of Abundant Life Christian Center sat down with me to share her humble beginnings, including first meeting her husband, Andrew. She explained how she met him and how their relationship and love for one another grew. “I met Andrew through his sister Carrie and his sister Tiffany who was like a mentor to me.” At the time, Andrew had suffered a football injury, which drove him to pursue gospel music, an interest he shared with Rochelle. One thing led to another and before you knew it, the two friends had grown close and developed more than just a friendship. It was as if it was meant to be all along.
Rochelle always had a love for her church, Abundant Life Christian Center. “I was led to the Lord at just four years old in a Christian home with my mother; I’ll never forget it. As time went on, attending Saturday night services, which was called Life After Dark, I began to draw closer to Him and things just clicked. Though I was already saved and a Christian, that night was different as I wept and fully gave myself 100% over to Him.”
Eventually, a gem was born called It’s Already Done, which is the husband and wife’s duo music project. The title of the album and song comes with a story as well. Allowing God to use them as His vessel, they completed a movement album story in which they really believe that those who love God have the victory and freedom. The song Holy, Holy was the first song Andrew wrote while learning the guitar and Jesus, Fill This Place was a song the pair wrote together. David, who is also a singer helped the couple with all of the songs, turning their little ideas into something really special that they are proud of. “We are humble and grateful to God to allow these songs to draw people near to Him,” says Rochelle.
Rochelle admits that sometimes life’s busy and hectic schedules do tend to get in the way. “It’s not always glamorous to fold laundry, cook a meal or clean a house or change diapers,” she says. “But taking care of a family is extremely important to me.” As a minister, musician, mother and woman of God, Rochelle hopes to dive more into what God has called her to by impacting, inspiring and motivating other fellow moms and wives in ministry who feel overwhelmed at times.
As the dynamic duo continues to impact their home and church, they also influence those around them everyday, including adults and children. “Andrew and I hope to see the orphan spirit eradicated in our world. We love leading and pouring out love into the next generation along with mothering and fathering the student ministry as well.”
The pair is looking forward to the future! “We are moving into our new home and I think our biggest goal is to really expand who God called us to be. It is our greatest desire to be able to travel and lead people in worship and impartation along with serving our local body and students.”
