Talk about a girl on fire! 13-year-old Little League pitcher Mo’ne Davis, who plays for Philadephia’s Taney Dragons and throws 70-mph fastballs, caught everyone’s attention when she made history by becoming the first girl to throw a shutout in the Little League World Series. Mo’ne made history a second time by becoming the very first Little League player to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. The Taney Dragons suffered an 8-1 loss to Las Vegas last night, but all hope is not lost. The team is up against Chicago this evening for a chance to remain in the tournament. Regardless of the outcome, Mo’ne and the team are an inspiration to youth and even adults everywhere- for the pride they have brought to Philadelphia and their local team; and perhaps Mo’ne’s performance will inspire more girls to play the game. We wish them well tonight!
