NAACP Image Award Winner and VH1 “Hit The Floor” actress Kimberly Elise will be returning to the small screen to create a film adaption named “Apple Mortgage Cake” based on the triumphant true life story of Angela Logan. For those who aren’t familiar, the story of Angela Logan is quite fascinating due to her adversities and misfortune. It was truly inspiring to see how when her back was against the wall, she successfully found a way to turn everything upside down and change her and her children’s lives forever with her talent for baking apple cakes, which was taught to her as a young girl by her grandmother. The story goes like this: The 35 year old Angela Logan of Teaneck, New Jersey is a sweet, caring single mother of three teenage boys. She worked multiple jobs to put food on the table and provide for her children while still finding time to volunteer at her local church as an employment counselor. All this is happening in her life as her house is literally falling apart due to floods and storms; her boys are in need of food and school supplies, and if that wasn’t enough her car breaks down on her and she receives news from her mortgage lender that they are prepared to place her house under foreclosure within 10 days if she cannot come up with $4000. In order to save her home from foreclosure she devised a plan to bake 100 cakes for a bake sale in 10 days with the price point of $40 each in order to garner the funding. Filming is currently still in progress in Ontario Canada and is planned to be released soon. You can see this uplifting and moving tale of hope and tenacity when it airs on the UP network (produced by Entertainment One). Check your local listings!
