Thousands of demonstrators marched on September 30th for black women and racial injustice. The March for Black Women and the March for Racial Justice joined together in Washington, D.C. Marches also took place in other cities like Miami, San Diego, Chicago, and Phoenix.
During the march, women linked arms while speakers said the names of black women who have been victims of violence. This year’s march marks the 20th anniversary for the March for Black Women. It is separate from the Women’s March because black women’s needs are specific to gender and race.
