“Illusion”

Poem by Wendye Savage

mask2

My friends often smiled with me

Nothing wrong as far as I could see:

A cut so deep into my soul

Why was I the last to know

That love was just a fantasy

Seems I’m a fool in make believe:

Awakening finds her in your eyes

With you whispering words, I wish were lies:

Nothing wrong as far as I could see

You let me live in fantasy:

A cut so deep into my soul

Why was I the last to know.
