Houston Black History Gala Welcomes Vanessa L. Williams as Keynote Speaker

On  Saturday February 25th Grammy Platinum artist, co-star of the hit series “Desperate Housewives” and “Ugly Betty”, Vanessa L. Williams was the keynote speaker  at  a Houston Black History Scholarship Gala.  Vanessa, born and raised in New York, whose parents were both  teachers spoke with such honesty and punctuality as she was brought up to have.   When the aspect of her winning Miss USA 1983 came to paragraph, Vanessa spoke her mind and simply told us , “I never thought of myself as being beautiful…it  was always important for me to accomplish and to be successful”.  She and mother……..Williams now expose that past in a book collaboration titled “You Have Know Idea” due for this April 17th.  As the night went on, students benefiting  from  event  proceeds and recognized college board encircled  gorgeous Vanessa as she lit up the ballroom at the Hilton Americas in plunging white gown.  After her speech which received standing ovation, the generous Ms. Williams acknowledged all of her fans with a smile and photo.

I saw her greeting guests as she was escorted through the door…..and exclaimed,   “We love you Vanessa”…and she turned around in a smile replying…,”Thank you dear”.
