Poem by Wendye Savage
I fought Depression
Like a bandit in the night;
He tried to rob me of my joy
Tried to rob me of my life.
One thing’s for certain
My mind was dark and full of gloom;
I thought, doesn’t anyone see
That I’m heading for doom?
Overwhelmed
And so frightened, you see;
Could not figure out
Why such sadness covered me.
Something’s not right
That’s what I told myself;
So I set out one day
To go and get this girl some help.
Depression is a part of life
Though unwelcome, so true;
But don’t be afraid to call out
If you think it’s got the best of you.
