Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just pack up your bags on a moment’s notice and whisk yourself off on an adventure? Or maybe luxuriate in an utterly relaxing spa treatment that makes you tingle all the way down to your toes. Or how about making the ultimate fashion statement in your brand new pair of designer stilettos? Just ask Marian Anderson- haute blogger extraordinaire (Haute Travels is her blog), multi-mag contributor, speech writer, and communications strategist; she can inspire you to throw caution to the wind through her passionate journaling of her own personal travels. Bronze caught up with Marian to find out the key to her “hautness.”
BM: Hello Marian. Thank-you for taking the time to speak with us.
Marian: My pleasure. Thank-you for the profile.
BM: What sparked your love for travel?
Marian: I’m a former Fox Network News Producer and Writer with a natural curiosity about people and the world that we live in. Travel offers a great opporutnity to tell stories about my adventures and the people that I meet along the way…for me it’s a lifestyle. I don’t know any other way to live.
BM: So tell us about your blog Haute Travels. What exactly do you write about?
Marian: Haute Travels is the place where I get to be totally free to write about my love for fashion, beauty products, spas, and luxury travel. It gives the girls who live vicariously through my travels something to smile about. When I write about travel-ready hair or my trip to the land of red haute soles (the Christian Louboutin Boutique in Paris), I’m speaking to all the girls who love haute hair and Louboutin shoes!
BM: Your blog is so glam- stylish and fashionable with a beautifully soft color palette. Is that how you would classify your own personal style?
Marian: My personal style is driven by my personality and Southern charm. I don’t think of myself as a glamour girl, but I am a girl who loves pink…but not too much. When it comes to fashion, I look for clothes that enhance my silhouette. I can be stylish, chic and comfy cute; it all depends on my mood. and thanks to my Style Strategist Tonya Seavers Evans in Miami…I’m loving color!
BM: Where is your most favorite travel destination and why?
Marian: Paris…I feel the most creative in Paris, but I also love the Caribbean…sun-kissed skin makes me feel beautiful!
BM: Who is the most interesting people you’ve ever met in your travels? What kind of impression did they leave on you?
Marian: I met Actor Idris Elba a few months ago in Curacao. I found him to be authentic and sincere. He inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone and do something ambitious. He’s an example of someone who was driven by his imagination and saw his future years before it became a reality. That’s powerful. I feel like he gave me the right message at the right time to make my dreams come true.
BM: You appear to be a woman who follows her dreams. Can you offer some words of advice to other women who are looking to do the same?
Marian: Build a solid network of supporters and cheerleaders. I surround myself with great thought partners and friends who understand my vision, who inspire and bring the best out of me. I also draw to me those who are on the same path of fulfillment.
BM: Give us your best style secret.
Marian: I play with color and understand my silhouette; I fully embrace my curves!
BM: If you could travel back in time and could only take one thing from the present with you, what would it be? why?
Marian: My BlackBerry…I have to stay connected!
