We all know that getting your hair done can make you feel like a new person, but what about the person behind the chair? Someone had to give them the tools and resources to create the styles that make you smile.
Meet Consquilla Carey CEO, Master cosmetologist, Beauty school founder, and mom. She has made it her mission to empower women through beauty. As the the owner of Affordable Styles Hair Salon (Baltimore, MD) and CC’s Beauty Institute (Richmond, VA), she gives stylists the skills they need to change lives.
From a young age, Consquilla wanted to be a hairstylist. She started styling her doll’s hair at the age of five. At age ten she began monetizing her skills and by 16 she was undergoing an apprenticeship at a hair salon in her hometown.
Her journey has been full of ups and downs including becoming pregnant with her son during her senior year of high school. He was born prematurely and was later diagnosed with autism. Consquilla did not allow her trials and tribulations to stop her, she let them strengthen and challenge her to push through.
Today, she is living out her dream and pouring into others through her institute in Richmond, VA, CC’s Beauty Institute, where she teaches other women how to be successful in the beauty industry. She is making the industry more accessible by providing scholarships and funding that cover tuition costs.
