As ambitious women, we are often focused on accomplishing one goal after the next, and we tend to be hard on ourselves when those goals aren’t met. Once you factor in relationships, children, and family, there is often little time to really celebrate the woman you’ve evolved into. I know what’s it like to feel like there isn’t enough time in the day. Whether you are single, married working full time, or a stay-at-home mom, you have many roles to play. Life can get busy for many of us. So, how do you find the time to stop and congratulate yourself for the small wins or major accomplishments when life gets in the way?
Life is filled with joyful moments, and there comes a time when you want to feel appreciated, acknowledged, and celebrated. It’s important that we find the time to celebrate who we are and give ourselves praise for our efforts and triumphs. Let me discuss some ways you can celebrate yourself.
Gratitude List
It is normal to express gratitude to others, but what about showing yourself some praise? For example, you met the deadline for a major assignment, or you maintained consistency in your 21-day workout plan. WhooHoo! Yes, that is definitely a reason to celebrate! As you achieve your goals; write them down, so in the future, you can go back and reflect on those accomplishments. Don’t wait until you’ve reached your goals to be proud of yourself.
Self-Care Ritual
I am a big fan of taking the time to practice self-care. It’s much needed to ensure a positive and healthy lifestyle. Set aside time to take a hot bubble bath, read your favorite books, or treat yourself to something special. What’s wrong with a chocolate bar every now and then? Try to implement your self-care routine weekly if possible. By doing this you can experience a sense of abundance and joy.
Embrace a new day
How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of your day. I try to start with morning prayer/mediation and of course my cup of coffee. This ritual helps get me in the mood for what is ahead. Get up and look forward to the new day and all the possibilities it may bring. Do what you need to get in the right mood, and to keep that same attitude for the entire day. Take this moment to inhale all the positive vibes, so when the day is done you can celebrate.
Commit to celebrating who you are and loving yourself. Make this a habit every day with the things you accomplish. While God wants us to celebrate others, He wants you to be celebrated as well. Celebrate Yourself, You deserve it!
