Hey Bronze beauties! Here are 3 September beauty launches that really put the magic in #BlackGirlMagic:
Taraji P. Henson x MAC Viva Glam II
Earlier this year, Taraji P. Henson launched her first MAC VIVA GLAM collaboration with a bright fuchsia matte lipstick and a matching lipglass. Now she’s back for round two, but this time she’s focusing on deep metallics and glitter (lots of glitter). The lipstick ($17.50) is described as a dark copper metallic with a gold pearlescent and frosty finish. Depending on your skin tone, this shade can range from a grungy metallic brown to a reflective nude. MAC’s frost lipsticks aren’t matte and apply more like a satin lipstick, so they are comfortable on the lips but not as long-wearing. The lipglass ($17), which the brand describes as a bronze with a gold pearl. It has a light brown, almost clear base with a ton of gold glitter (so it’s not for the faint of heart). These products are available in all MAC stores, counters and online.

Nicki Minaj x MAC
Nicki Minaj has had multiple collaborations with MAC over the years, including her own VIVA GLAM lipsticks and lip glasses. She’s known to wear bright pink colors but she’s switched it up this year with an all nude collection. The line features two shades created by Minaj herself, The Pinkprint and Nicki’s Nude, and twenty-four new or re-launched lipstick and lipglass shades. Both lipsticks are amplified formulas, which are very creamy and opaque with a subtle sheen. The Pinkprint is a pale pink while Nicki’s Nude is a pink with coral undertones. These have been criticized for being too light for brown girls, but if you have the right lip liner and you’re not afraid of light nudes then you should definitely give these a chance. The collection will launch at MAC on September 21st.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna
This is hands-down the most anticipated launch of the year. Not only is it created by Rihanna, who is the definition of “Black Girl Magic,” but it’s also done something many of its predecessors have failed to do: launch with 40 shades of foundation. This is unheard of for an initial brand launch, as most companies tend to launch with 50 shades of beige and four darker shades with the promise of many more to come. Rihanna’s shade range is definitely the star of the show and even the foundation is considered to be one of the best Fenty products. Her brand also has highlighters, contour/highlight sticks, mattifying powder and brushes. There are about a million reviews to watch on YouTube that all pretty much say the same thing: Fenty Beauty is worth it. It’s available at Sephora and Harvey Nichols.
