Black Women Talk Tech is a huge inspiration to African American women. They provide a unique understanding about what African American women face in the media industry. I was inspired to place this organization in the spotlight because of their encouragement to women to build the next billion-dollar business. They will walk you through with tips on how to be successful. “Lifting While We Climb” is a perfect motto for their business. I had the privilege of sitting down with a spokesperson of the company and a big part of the business, Marilyn Moran.
Black Women Talk Tech was created by three amazing entrepreneurs Lauren Washington, Esosa Ighodaro and Regina Gwynn. The three founders decided to come together after attending one too many inspirational events that didn’t have any other black women. The realization of this fact drove the entrepreneurs to make a change and a difference.
Black Women Talk Tech has chapters all over the world and continue to grow. The events connect founders, sponsors and investors. During the chapter meetings, founders, speakers and investors are able to connect and network. The bottom line is technology businesses finding what they are looking for in terms of investments and encouraging other successful black women to build, create and scale that next billion-dollar business. One of the main events are chapter lunches and the company has expanded out to Chicago, Seattle, London and Washington DC. And will be expanding to LA, Miami, and Austin by this year’s end.
The organization looks forward to becoming more international around the globe. It just acquired non-profit status, a large accomplishment and goal they were looking to complete. Their goal is to continue to uplift minorities such as Black Men Talk Tech, whose first upcoming event is Oct 23-24 in Miami and the organization will have more exciting announcements coming soon. Their biggest event is a conference taking place next year, February 27th-29th. For more information visit their website https://www.blackwomentalktech.com
