Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time for family cookouts, tropical vacations, and the BET Awards.
Earlier yesterday, BET finally announced their nominations for the 2017 telecast of their annual awards ceremony. With 21 categories in total, there seems to be room for anyone’s favorite artist to snag a nom or two this year.
Leading the pack in nominations with 7 is none other than Beyoncé, who’s latest album Lemonade continues to help her roll in a plethora of awards and acknowledgements during awards seasons. For the men, Bruno Mars is up for 5 BET Awards, including one for “Album of the Year” for his album 24K Magic, which topped the charts last November.
Although many nominees were excited about their nominations, such as former Love and Hip Hop cast member and rising rap star Cardi B , some musicians felt their musical efforts had gone unnoticed, like Chicago-bred rapper Dreezy, who detailed her reasons for her ill-feelings in a Twitter rant.
As reported by Deadline, the 2016 BET Awards was telecast on 12 Viacom network channels, which helped raise the number of viewers by 11% from the 2015 BET Awards.
This year’s performers and Lifetime Achievement award recipient has yet to be announced,
The 2017 BET Awards will air live on June 25 at 8P/7C. For a full list of nominees, visit BET.com.
