Latin Music USA made the opening night debut with Ricky Martin Performance form the 41st Annual Grammy Awards in 1999 directed by Adriana Bosch local acclaimed Emmy Award winning filmmaker.
The film explores the Latin Pop explosion in the Music industry and popular cultures. The documentary film was educational as it teaches the history of Latin culture in music. Taking us back to the days of Emilio and Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, on how they break the barriers for other Latin artists such as Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Shakira whose background is Lebanese-Columbian and many others to cross over into the English market.
Today youths has not loss the Latin style as we see an urban fusion creating Rock Espanola and Spanish rap, Reggaeton birthing out of Puerto Rico a combination of Jamaican reggae and Latin music, featuring artists such as Pitbull and Puerto Rock.
The movie was publicly funded by PBS.org, National Endowment for the Arts and LBS(Latin Broadcasting System). The movie, which took seven years to be funded and one and a half year to be made, consists of four different chapters; we had the opportunity of viewing the fourth chapter- Documentary Movie, History of Latin Music.
